New Standards. New Solutions.

The new TEKS have the ability to transform how our students learn science - but that transformation will not happen overnight. Where to start?

Build awareness in year one with high-quality instructional activities that model what a 2024 Texas science classroom should look like. One to three day science concept kits allow teachers and students to practice inquiry-based lessons that are still well-aligned to the content TEKS.

Kit #446S

Modeling and Mitigating Stream Processes

Students model the phenomenon of sediment movement in a river using a unique mini stream table that provides evidence for how geoscience processes change Earth’s surface.

TEKS 1A, 1B, 1D, 1G, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 3C, 5B (Success Skills), 11A (6th), 11A (7th)

Kit #557S

Tragedy of the Commons: Sustainable Resource Use

Students use a physical model of a commercial fishery to explore the impact of human activity on a shared resource, and how changes in human activity affect
that resource.

TEKS 1G, 2C, 5B (Success Skills), 11A (6th), 12A (8th)

 tragedy of the commons

Kit #904S

Natural Selection and Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria

Students model the effects of antibiotics on a population of disease-causing bacteria during an infection, emphasizing the importance of take the full course of antibiotics.

TEXS 1A, 1G, 2B, 2C, 3C, 5B (Success Skills) 13C (6th), 13D (7th), 13C (8th)

What will students be doing?

Students using our programs quickly come to expect that they will be purposefully active during science. Science and Engineering Practices are a regular part of their week and are the main vehicle for content as students collect data, engage in relevant dialog, and track their understanding as it develops.

Look through a typical unit

Take ten minutes to watch an overview of one unit, Energy, from Issues and Science developed by SEPUP. The first five minutes covers the unit's anchoring phenomenon, the unit issue, and a brief visit to each lesson, while the second half takes a deep dive into one activity. This is a great way to quickly see how SEPUP's units are structured.
