“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
Marissa started her career as an elementary teacher in a self-contained classroom; teaching science was her passion. This passion led to a position as a district-level coach supporting over ten bilingual schools in the fifth largest district in Texas. Her support included coaching local campus coaches, modeling lessons for teachers, and advising the administration of the adopted curriculum. Next, she became an assistant principal at a campus in Fort Worth ISD. She loved building a safe learning environment for teachers and students.
In the fall of 2009, an educational publishing company recruited Marissa to lead professional development in the United States, as well as South Korea, Taiwan, China, and Dubai. Her enthusiasm to support continuing education helped her become the consultant team leader as the professional learning director. In this role, she could bring the teacher’s voice to her company and give input on product development, marketing, and trends while inspiring her team of consultants.
Marissa has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas Christian University and a Master of Education in Bilingual Education from Texas Woman’s University. As a first-generation college student, she knows the value of an education and that one teacher can be all it takes to make a difference in a student’s life.
Marissa wants to continue supporting teachers with instructional materials that make it easier for educators to focus on the student while implementing a high-quality curriculum. She knows that she is continuing this mission at Lab-Aids.
