New Semester: Changing Student/Teacher Class Associations

 

Each semester, your teacher/student class associations may need to be updated in the portal. You have three options for changing teacher/student class associations in the Lab-Aids portal. Please click on the link in each title to view more detailed instructions. 

1) Manually change class titles
  • Summary: This will work if a) the class titles are the only thing changing, and b) if the classes contain the same students/teachers as the previous semester. 

  • Pros: Students and teachers will continue with the same portal access and the class titles will be accurate.

  • Cons: This will not be as efficient if you have many class titles to change.

 
2) Bulk Update Existing Students/Teachers
  • Summary: Bulk update allows admins to upload a csv/xls file to change class associations of students/teachers. Bulk update will clear the current class associations and replace them with the new class associations. 

  • Pros: Change student/teacher class associations in bulk. No need to delete student accounts and re-roster. No need to individually change class associations. Class Name can now be used, instead of the previous practice of only using Class ID. 

  • Cons: If users need to be associated with more than one class, you must enter users in a separate row for each additional class. This is different than your initial upload. 

 

3) Delete students and re-roster students via bulk upload.
  • Summary: This is the primary way to change class associations if you do not use Bulk Update. You'll delete your existing students, re-roster students via bulk upload, and manually modify teachers if necessary. 

  • Pros: Same bulk upload file format as the beginning of the year. Clean process.

  • Cons: Student deletion is done by individual classes. Student data (homework, assessment, etc.) will be deleted.
