Lab-Aids is excited to participate live and in-person at the annual MAST Conference for Science Educators. Join us Friday, November 5th at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel for hands-on workshops and more program information at the Lab-Aids table.
Attend our Hands-On Workshops:
The Full Course
How can humans affect evolution with their choices? In this activity, students model a population of bacteria over time if a person does or does not take a full course of antibiotics and analyze the data for patterns in the development of antibiotic resistance. Students will examine how their choices and the choices of others can affect health. Teachers get a set of materials to do the activity and a complete lesson plan. Great connections to math, human behavior, and biology.

Breeding Critters
Using human traits to teach genetics can lead to misconceptions. In this activity, you will use simple materials to build a "critter" from two parent organisms. Learn how to embed dominant and recessive traits, codominance, and behaviors, and even environmental factors into your middle school lessons. A digital version of this activity will also be presented for a remote option.
