WORKSHOPS:
Chemical Reactions: Recovering Copper from Waste Solutions
From Issues and Science: Redesigned for the NGSS
Date: 1/30 | Time: 9-9:50a | Location: Dogwood 4
What happens to my cell phone when I throw it away? Come explore this interactive session that examines the real-life issue of circuit board waste. Students investigate the use of reactions with three metals for reducing copper waste and reclaiming copper from a used copper etching solution. Students use data from their investigation and text sources to develop an evidence-based argument for which metal is the best choice for recovering copper from the waste solution.
Exploring a Learning Sequence about Patterns in Species Diversity
From Science and Global Issues: Biology
Date: 1/30 | Time: 10-10:50a | Location: Dogwood 4
Learning Sequences to drive phenomena through a unit is one way to help students understand the content. In this model activity from a new Lab-Aids program: Science and Global Issues: Biology, developed by SEPUP, you will use data to investigate how abiotic factors and species diversity are related.
