See Student Work

Two students marveling over science convection lab. Just like scientists by profession, students use their notebooks to collect data, record initial ideas, reflect, and challenge their understanding of the concepts as they grow more sophisticated.

Unit Materials

Our equipment is not added as an after thought - it is a fully integrated part of the program. Curriculum developers work with material manufacturers each step of the way - including classroom field tests.

Nearly all program equipment is included. See an example Material List from the unit, Chemistry of Materials

Activity Design

Each unit requires students to interact with specific DCIs, SEPs, and CCCs through various learning experiences. Issues and Science uses a variety of activity approaches.

Regardless of activity type, the Student Book has a deliberate structure and provides integrated equipment in support of student learning.

Absent Students

When students are absent during a lab, LABsent provides a modified experience that can be done from home. When appropriate, students can still collect and analyze data allowing them to be prepared to rejoin their group on their return.
