Living Environment Teacher
Health Sciences Charter School, New York

We first looked at Science and Global Issues: Biology when it was recommended to our principal from teachers at other schools, and we felt that it would be beneficial for our high school biology curriculum. We like that the program allows for a routine - students know exactly what the structure will be everyday. Our favorite part of SGI: Biology is the labs!

Since using this curriculum I have become more of a "hands off" teacher. The majority of the learning in my classroom is student led. Students are required to read and understand material on their own and all assignments and notes are taken in their science notebook. This is possible because of the program's intentional focus on developing students' literacy skills.
